Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc., our programs, and how to get involved.

Where can I donate money or supplies to a community charity that helps people in need?

You can make a secure gift on our Donate page — every gift supports our programs and services for families across Hillsborough County. Toy donations for our Hearts of Hope Holiday Toy Giveaway support families enrolled in our programs; please contact us to confirm current donation needs before giving supplies or toys.

How do I find a local nonprofit that can connect me with practical support and community resources?

Our core programs serve Hillsborough County families with current or past DCF/child welfare involvement who need support with family preservation, reunification, or preventing renewed involvement. Financial hardship alone does not qualify a family for our core programs. If that describes your family, visit our Get Help page. For help with rent, utilities, or other needs, explore our Community Resource Directory for housing, financial, legal, and family support organizations in the community.

What should I look for before donating to a small community-based nonprofit organization?

Look for clear information about a nonprofit’s mission, the programs it actually runs, and how it serves the community it names. Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) family-preservation nonprofit, and you can see exactly what we do — the Hope Housing Initiative, Emergency Family Support Program, and Youth & Family Stability Program — on our Programs page, along with direct ways to reach our team.

Can I volunteer with Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc.?

Yes. Volunteers support Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc. through outreach, donation drives, housing initiative support, and special events like the Hearts of Hope Holiday Toy Giveaway. Reach out through our Contact page and let us know how you’d like to get involved, and our team will follow up with current opportunities.

Are there local charities offering community programs for families needing additional support?

Yes — Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc. offers several community programs for families in Hillsborough County, including the Hope Housing Initiative, Emergency Family Support Program, and Youth & Family Stability Program, along with seasonal efforts like the Hearts of Hope Holiday Toy Giveaway and long-term housing work such as Burroughs Landing Phase 1. These programs serve enrolled WHOH clients — Hillsborough County families with current or past DCF/child welfare involvement — and support depends on assessed needs, program approval, available funding, and capacity.

Does Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc. provide financial assistance?

Wright’s Heart of Hope Inc. currently has no funds available for direct financial assistance. Applying does not guarantee enrollment or assistance. For help with rent, utilities, or other bills, visit our Community Resource Directory.
